Artist’s note: This painting is a narrative about family, and in particular the character and expectations passed down from mother to daughter. The figure to the right represents womanhood. Heavily pregnant, she looks over the two central figures. These two, who mirror each other, may be mother and daughter. One holds a baby. A little girl looks back towards the older generations, perhaps representing a break in the chain, hope, the inner child? In the background one angel rests a hand of comfort. Another face is present. Who is he?
