Artist’s note: A simple portrait of a woman using iconography to express emotion. This original oil painting uses the traditional materials of oil and gold leaf on a modern, synthetic board. It is waxed and distressed to give a worn, antique quality, but its modernity is exemplified by the use of the synthetic panel. In this way the materials examine the spiritual experience, which is the same through every generation.
