Artist’s Note: A symbolic painting of a child with a cat. In this series of paintings the children represent emotions or experiences. They are not portraits. This painting is worked on a re-used canvas. This means it has the texture of a previous work underneath, and the canvas is not perfect. This is deliberate. Since these are paintings of emotions, and our experience of life is always coloured by previous experiences, the re-used canvas symbolises that idea of progress rather than perfection.
