Devon Artists: October at the Lost & Found Gallery, Exeter

I’m spending all day every Friday and Saturday in October at the Lost and Found Gallery. It’s an artist’s co-operative pop-up art gallery featuring work by Devon artists. The gallery is temporarily filling a space on the corner between Fore Street and North Street, where the old photography shop used to be, while the building awaits refurbishment.

What is the Lost and Found Gallery?

The gallery is run by Devon artists, Louisa Currier and Anna FitzGerald. They recently opened the doors not just for Devon artists to show work, but for artists to work in the gallery. This means that anyone who drops in can see work in progress and talk to the artists. It also provides an amazing creative space and community.

A creative space to work

I normally paint fairly late at night, and work in a quiet space, so I was interested to see how I could work in a busy gallery with other Devon artists. I was also keen to give myself the time to spend those full days painting.

It’s fair to say, I enjoyed the first two days more than anything.

Inspiration among Devon artists

I’ll be back every Friday and Saturday for the whole of October 2020. My current work is progressing steadily and I’m excited for what I will acheive this month.

It is inspiring working alongside other artists. It is also uplifting talking with all those people who come in to discuss art, ask questions and share their enthusiasm.

Perhaps next week I may find out what the girl in my painting is looking at.

If you’d like to come in out of the rain and browse a huge range of original art by Devon Artists, join me on Friday or Saturday throughout October.

I’m also exhibiting this month in London. Read more at my Projects page.
