Contemporary Art Across Media: Autumn Hare Features on New Music Release

My painting ‘Autumn Hare’ is featured as the cover art on a new solo piano work by pianist and composer, Adam Johnson. Out on November 13, 2020, the piece is inspired by Czech composer Leoš Janáček.

The title, Frith, refers to the character in Watership Down: A god-figure who created the world and promised that rabbits would always be allowed to thrive. In Lapine his name literally means ‘the sun’.

Frith n. is an old english word meaning peace, protection; safety, security.

I have known Adam for many years. We are both from Newcastle upon Tyne and studied together at the Royal Northern College of Music. Adam accompanied my final violin recital at the Royal Academy of Music, where coincidentally we performed the violin and piano sonata by Leoš Janáček.

It’s a real honour to be involved in a small way in his new work.

You can find out more about Adam at his website, or follow him on Facebook.
